Shipping policy
Last Update: 19 March 2026
At Yamatoya, we strive to deliver high-quality wooden furniture to homes around the world. The following policy explains how we handle shipping, import duties, defects, product support, and warranty coverage.
This Refund & Shipping Policy applies to all purchases made through yamatoya1924.com and forms an integral part of our Terms of Use.
In the event of any inconsistency between the Terms of Use and this Refund & Shipping Policy, this policy shall prevail with respect to shipping, delivery, returns, refunds, exchanges, and warranty matters.
1. Shipping Destinations
・Dispatch
We currently ship to selected countries and regions as displayed on the Site at the time of purchase, including Singapore and Malaysia.
Shipping availability may vary by destination, product type, and logistical conditions.
Orders are typically dispatched from our warehouse in Singapore.
・Processing Time
Orders are generally processed within several business days after payment confirmation, excluding weekends and public holidays.
Delivery times may vary depending on the destination country, courier services, customs clearance procedures, and local logistics conditions.
・Delivery Delays
While we aim for timely delivery, we are not liable for delays caused by customs clearance processes, local postal services, or Force Majeure events (such as natural disasters, pandemics, strikes, or transportation disruptions).
2. Shipping Fees
Shipping fees, if applicable, are calculated automatically at checkout based on the delivery destination, order value, and shipping method.
We offer free shipping on orders over SGD100 for deliveries to Singapore and Malaysia.
For reference only, SGD100 is approximately equivalent to MYR310, subject to exchange rate fluctuations. Any promotional shipping conditions or campaigns will be clearly indicated on the Site at the time of purchase.
3. Taxes, Customs Duties, and Import Charges
Orders shipped internationally may be subject to import duties, taxes, GST, SST, VAT, or other government-imposed charges depending on the destination country.
For orders shipped to Singapore:
Goods and Services Tax (GST) will apply in accordance with Singapore regulations. Any applicable import duties will be borne by us unless otherwise specified at checkout.
For orders shipped to Malaysia:
Sales and Service Tax (SST), if applicable, is the customer's responsibility. Import duties are generally not applied; however, if local authorities impose any duties or customs charges, they will be the customer's responsibility and may be collected by the courier upon delivery.
Customs clearance procedures may occasionally cause delays beyond our estimated delivery timeframe.
4. Damaged Upon Arrival and Damaged Items
If the packaging is visibly damaged upon delivery, please inspect the goods immediately. If the product is damaged, take photos of the box before and after opening and contact us immediately. This evidence is required for us to file a claim with the courier.
If your product arrives damaged, defective, or differs from your order, please contact us within a reasonable period after delivery.
To assist our investigation, customers may be asked to provide related information, including photographic or video evidence of:
• the damaged or defective product
• the shipping carton and internal packaging
• the shipping label
Upon verification, we will determine the appropriate resolution in accordance with this policy.
5. Returns & Refunds – Resolution Without Return
Due to the high environmental and logistical cost of international shipping, Yamatoya generally adopts a “Resolution Without Return” approach for defective or incorrect items.
Where a defect or shipping error is verified, we may offer one of the following solutions at our discretion:
• Full or partial refund to the original payment method
• Replacement of the defective product or replacement parts
In most cases, customers will not be required to return the product. Instead, customers may be asked to dispose of the item locally after verification.
Unauthorised returns sent without prior approval may not be accepted.
Returns or refunds for change-of-mind purchases are generally not accepted due to the high cost of international logistics.
6. One-Year Limited Warranty
We stand by the quality of our craftsmanship. Yamatoya provides a One (1) Year Limited Warranty from the date of delivery covering manufacturing or structural defects during normal household use.
・Coverage: This warranty covers defects in materials, construction, and quality under normal household use.
・Exclusions (What is NOT covered):
